Hamilton Pool Preserve

If you ever find yourself in Texas around the Austin area, I highly recommend making the drive to the Hamilton Pool Preserve!

What used to be some sort of underground river's top collapsed a thousand or so years ago and now it's become a hidden gem of a swimming hole! (More like Pool because it's huge!) The pools are emerald green in color and you find yourself relaxing in towards the large dome like structure for shade, or towards the outer portions of the beach like area. It is a bit of a walk/"hike" to get to the larger Hamilton pool, but it's worth it!

Location: about 25 miles outside of Austin in Dripping Springs.

Address: 24300 Hamilton Road. Dripping Springs, TX 78620

Price: about $15 or so to park your vehicle in the entrance of the Hamilton Pool Preserve

Reservations seem to be required (however, I don't remember making them before?)

Swimming is allowed! HOWEVER, it depends on rainfall  and bacteria levels. Unfortunately for us, we came in the summer of 2015 and were unable to swim in the pool or stand under the waterfall because of high bacteria levels. Keep yourself informed!
